We took a trip around SAS Championship, revisiting some familiar locations with photos from the tournament’s first year.
As SAS celebrates 50 years, we’ve looked back at the people, places and moments that have shaped our story. This time, we took a trip around SAS Championship with a few photos from 2001, the very first year of the tournament.
Some views have changed, and some look incredibly familiar. Take a look at SAS Championship, then and now.

Some things are simply part of the tournament experience. Rows of golf carts were ready to roll in 2001, just as they were at Prestonwood last week. What started with the first SAS Championship has grown into an annual opportunity to bring customers together through golf and networking.

Different signs, different setup, same location. The tournament experience has evolved over the years, while continuing to welcome customers and partners to the action. Today, the week extends well beyond the course, with business, networking, golf and community programming bringing people together throughout Championship Week.

The clubhouse may look different after 26 years, but it’s still one of the hallmark locations of the SAS Championship, hosting customer meetings, industry gatherings and a chance to connect off the course.

Look closely and you’ll spot a little local flair among the golf clubs: a nod to SAS’ founding days at North Carolina State University.
Photos like these give us a chance to see how much has changed and how much has stayed familiar along the way.
